It’s a whopper of a weekend in Lakelands, with six adult matches all rotating around the massive D6 Derby against Mary’s on Saturday afternoon.
The AIL clash against our nearest friends and rivals naturally takes centre stage, with a massive crowd expected. 630 people are coming to the pre match lunch, with multiples of that on the sidelines to cheer both sides on. The match carries extra significance, with the points on offer hugely valuable to the winners. Nure could potentially guarantee a home semi final with a win (and the rest of the results falling the right way), while Mary’s know that a defeat coupled with a win for DUFC would almost certainly mean a relegation playoff for the Templeville side.
But really, when did this fixture ever need any more spice? KO is expected to be pushed back to 15.30 to accommodate the lunch, and the club would like to remind all those attending to respect our neighbours – please leave the car at home and walk down.
Also at home on Saturday is a huge match for the 5ths, as they take on Tarf in Division 10. The lads need a win to reach the playoffs, so please head up to the 4G before the AIL game and cheer the lads on. Les Devlin’s side have had a terrific season and deserve all our support. C’mon lads!
We then have a packed Sunday, with the 2nds, 3rds and 20s all in action. The winner of the 2nds clash with Old Wesley will make the playoff final, so this is a monster game – please show your support for the lads.
Last, but certainly not least, we have a lovely amuse bouche on Friday night, with the 4ths taking on Barnhall under lights in Lakelands at 8pm.
What a weekend!
