The 4ths played Mary’s on Friday night, and unfortunately lost by a point in Templeville Road. The result leaves us second spot, two points behind Clontarf.
On Sunday, the 2nds picked up a brilliant win over UCD in Belfield. The lads ran out 23-19 winners over the hosts, and with two games left, are in with a great chance of avoiding the relegation play-offs – a fantastic achievement given the quality in Division 1.
Also on Sunday, the U20s trounced Blackrock 66-7 at home. Switched from Stradbrook due to another flooded pitch, the lads turned on the champagne, running in 10 tries in an utterly dominant performance. In truth, Blackrock didn’t put up much of a challenge, but it’s hard to stop a side playing as well as the 20s. The bonus point was secured within 15 minutes thanks to a Stephen O’Neill hat trick and a fine finish from Tom O’Brien. This was vital as Lansdowne also picked up a bonus point against our opponents next week, Old Belvedere. With Lansdowne now one point behind us, the lads travel to Anglesea Road next Sunday knowing that a win of any sort will mean the JP Fanagan trophy will come to Lakelands for the first time.
