Well, the 1st XV really like a comeback, don’t they? After putting us all through the mother of all stress tests against UCD a couple of weeks back, they went and repeated the trick in Athlone on Saturday, coming from 20-3 down at half time to pip Buccaneers to the win, keeping us in third place in the league. A slow start coupled with a strong wind saw the Connacht side take a commanding lead, before subs Robbie Smyth and Robert Duke scored in the second half to spearhead a mammoth comeback to win 24-20.

The 2nd XV suffered a rare defeat on Sunday, going down 16-11 to UCD despite a battling performance in Metro Division 1, while the 4ths were defeated 37-10 by Wanderers in Lansdowne Road. The 5th XV were given a walkover by Coolmine on Saturday.
