Sunday saw our U13s play Barnhall in what could be deemed ” perfect rugby weather”.
From the kickoff the lads set out to move the ball wide and could’ve scored an early only to be denied by a toe in touch. A few more chances went begging early on as the ball went to ground. When the nerves settled, the passing started to stick, and with constant pressure, Nure broke through for the first try of the match .
From the restart, Nure kept the pressure on but Barnhall held on with a crucial turnover to stop the momentum. With Barnhall looking to run from deep, defensive pressure forced a knock on on the 22. The following scrum saw Nure move the ball wide and in for their 2nd try of the match.
10-0 up at halftime, and now playing into the wind, Terenure were defending from a scrum as Barnhall went blind and created an overlap. Try time for Barnhall. 10-5. With 15 left Terenure turned over Barnhall at the ruck and broke out . The following phases lead to an attacking scrum. The backs passed the ball well and went through the space they created. Try Terenure, 15-5. The last 5 mins saw Barnhall camp out in our 22, asking big questions of our defence, but some great scrambling, big spot tackles a huge turnover on the line was enough to see the lads through.
